A quick update for a little landmark: I finished the first draft of my new novel yesterday. What is provisionally titled The Final Downfall of the Good Guys is 416 pages, 92,768 words long, and will be sitting in a nice green box under my desk for the next month or so while I give my brain a rest and perhaps write some other stuff (probably write some other stuff - I bore easily). I started on 30 September last year, so that's 6 1/2 months for a first draft, which is not so bad. The idea of finishing by the end of the year still has some currency in my demented brain, but I guess we'll just see about that.
